Congratulations to Martin Anderson on winning his 4th National title at the 2011 EDGA National Deaf Golf Championships held at Hunley Hall GC, Brotton, Saltburn-by-the-Sea. He managed to challenge his rival Mark Forrest and prevent him the elusive opportunity of being accredited the first English Deaf golfer to complete a hat trick of EDGA National titles. Martin and Mark have challenged the winning spot a total of seven times between them since 2005 with Martin winning four, and Mark winning three.

It has been an absolute fantastic year for Mark Forrest for his individual performance this season. Winning the 2010 National Championships for the 2nd year running and also contributing very well to the World Deaf Golf Championships to the Team effort having finished a very credible 7th.
Here is a little excerpt of his season thus far.
"Prior to the National Championships, I was confident of retaining the title and to get a taster of the challenges on a Links course at Sandwich ahead of the 2010 World Deaf Golf Championships. In a high scoring event due to the inclement weather and windy conditions, I managed to fend of the challenge of Jason Albutt and Martin Anderson and win by a comfortable 4 strokes. Winning the National Championships had put me in good stead for the 2010 World Deaf Golf Championships at St Andrews, Scotland. After what I felt to be a poor performance for the Team in 2008 in Joondalup, Australia, I was determined to bounce back from this. Top of the leaderboard with two 75's after two rounds confirmed this. However, in the 3rd round I could not present a precise putting method and so I fell 5 shots behind the leader, David Ewen of Scotland (who eventually went on to win the Individual Title of the 2010 WDGC). I finished in a very credible 7th spot out of 77 individuals and felt proud of myself to be playing in the final group. I moved to Preston GC as I felt I needed more of a challenge and this proved me well as I moved from a handicap of 6 to a career best 4. For now, I am having a rest over winter and have packed my bats away!"
Well played Mark!
